Floating horse head at top margin | Fringed dress with Thunderbird, stars, and ties, in green, blue, yellow, and red.

Ethnographic Notes

Page 61: Floating horse head at top margin

The horse’s head in pencil appear to be a sketch related to the drawing of the lunging horse on Plate 12, based on the front portion of the horse effigies made by Joseph No Two Horns, now in the North Dakota Historical Society and the South Dakota State Historical Society.

Page 62: Fringed dress with Thunderbird, stars, and ties, in green, blue, yellow, and red (see alternative view for rotated version)

The drawn fancy fringed dress is decorated with astronomical bodies, a thunderbird flanked by design strips and hour glass decorations.
