COURTING: Man in Capote with Tomahawk Courts a Woman in a Red Blanket

Ethnographic Notes

Vertical COURTING: Man in Capote with Tomahawk Courts a Woman in a Red Blanket The man on the right, dominant side of the page wears a winter capote, made from blanket material, with the hood pulled up. The blanket is dark, with matching dark leggings and breechcloth flap made of the same stroud fabric. A tomahawk is tucked into the blanket, similar to the one in earlier plates (25, 26, 42, 46), but no streamers show. The woman has one long wrapped braid across her shoulder. The orange blanket covers her left shoulder, but the right is bare. Her leggings are dark, and her ankles have three stripes (trails).
