ANIMALS, 4 BEAVERS; GROUP, 5 WOMEN: Women Wear 2 Red, 2 Blue, and 1 2nd Phase Navajo Chief's Blanket

Ethnographic Notes

8 Four similar blut animals appear to be running beavers. Their rounded tails are distinctive. They are in two even rows and run into the far edge of the scene. Beavers provided meat as well as desirable pelts. 9 Five women stand in profile looking to the left. Two wear red blankets, two wear blue blankets, and one has a blue-and-white Navajo chief's blanket, second phase, with distinctive red markings. Three wear yellow-colored buckskin leggings with button or small concho decoration (Lanford, 2003: 164), one wears red trade cloth leggings, and one wears blue. The woman on the far right has four bands around each ankle; others have one or two ankle bands.
