Vertical BIRDS: Four Turkeys; Text Inscription under the turkeys in faint pencil: S.B. Driggs patient (?). Two turkeys are at the bottom of the page, and two larger turkeys are above them, vertically, on the page. All are lead-pencil outlined, with prominent wings and tail feathers detailed. All have long necks and pointed beaks. Their legs are depicted, as well as three toes. The second from the top has darker shading on neck and underbody. All face the same direction in the same pose. These are game birds in the plains area around Dodge City, where the ledger was drawn (see discussion Plate 33). The page shows signs of erasure, so the text under the turkeys is hard to discern. The inscription is upside down, at the bottom of the page, and the name S.B. Driggs is clear. However, the other wordpatent or patientis obscured by the drawing.
