Ethnographic Notes

Right: Blank Left:. A couple in one red blanket stand before a red tipi. Both have red-painted faces; the woman's is one-half vertically; the man's paint is two vertical stripes from chin to forehead hairline. Both have four black lines painted around their necks. Both have unnaturally thin legs and hoof-like feet, colored blue. One flap of the man's blue stroud breech clout with undyed edges shows under the blanket. The tipi is solid red. One pencil line bisects it vertically. Five poles show at the top, and the smoke flap is open. Media: Lead pencil outlines filled with blue crayon, black ink, or red watercolor.
