Ethnographic Notes
Although it was common for brothers and cousins to dress much alike, and to double- date, the two pairs of figures are so much alike, it seems more probable that the artist was recording two occasions when he and the same young lady "kept time". Since nothing in the dress or appearance of either figure has changed, perhaps the significance of the record is that she was willing to be with him twice on the same afternoon or evening.
