Ethnographic Notes

The ledger notebook is smaller than conventional Plains Indian ledger books, about 5 inches by 3 inches. The images are sometimes vertical ("portrait") on the pages, rather than horizontal ("landscape"). The ledger notebook cover is tattered brown card stock with a red, five-pointed star stamped in the center. Red borders are visible, although incomplete.Ramon Powers saw this notebook in the Schoyen collection and notes: "This Wild Hog ledger appears to have been extensively used;the covers are detached" (personal correspondence to Denise Low).
