A Crow and a Golden Eagle Eating a Dead Buffalo Cow

Ethnographic Notes

A crow and a golden eagle feasting on a dead buffalo cow. The season is late spring, as indicated by the aborted calf foetus at the left. It is not clear whether this was a chance encounter; or if it occurred during a chase, when the cow aborted after being shot; and later, after the hunter returned from attending to other kills, the carrion birds were already at work. The cow is recently dead, as indicated by the crow pecking at the eye, an avian delicacy.
