Another courting scene, this one unique in the collection for showing both the heads and bodies of the human figures entirely from the rear. The parting of the woman's hair is colored with vermillion paint. It is not clear what Black Road has covering his head. The dragoon saber, seen also in Plates 73, & 41, was so significant to Black Road that he named his fourth son “He Has a Holy Sword” (Miwakan Yuha---1892 census, Pine Ridge Reservation, S.D.). Earlier, that may have been a warpath nickname for Black Road, himself.
